Parallel Session 12: Digital Safety of Human Rights Defenders
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to invite the Digital Defenders Partnership (DDP) to launch the Digital Safety Manual: Guidance for Diplomats and Embassy Staff working with Civil Society and Human Rights Defenders. This manual serves as a practical, down to earth, short reference guide for diplomats and embassy staff who support civil society in their work. It aims to help diplomats and embassy staff to navigate online threats and risks to information security. The guide was developed by DDP.
In this session, the Dutch Human Rights Ambassador, Bahia Tahzib-Lie, will provide an overview of the challenges in communication between diplomats, embassy staff and human rights defenders.
DDP’s Daniel Ó Cluanaigh will provide an overview of the Digital Safety Manual, describe how to use it, and provide practical ideas tools and recommendations on how to implement the suggestions from the Manual.
